What we can do to help you with your Research and Referencing
The Perrotis College Librarian can help you with the following:
— Show you techniques on how to cite inside your text, how to reference your resources, and how to create a correct Reference list at the end of your assignments, using online Referencing tools;
— How to search for academic articles through the EBSCO/CardiffMet databases, Google Scholar, Scopus, etc.;
— How to search for eBooks through the EBSCO databases;
— How to decide whether the resources (websites, blogs, online articles, books, etc.) you found are credible or not;
— How to search through the Library’s online catalog for print books and journals;
— Show you techniques on how to differentiate between fake news and real news;
— How to use and navigate through the Library Subject Guides.

Writing Center Consultation
Mission
The ‘Gregory Maguire’ Writing Center (GMWC), located at the ‘Dimitris & Aliki Perrotis’ Library, was founded in 2016 with the support of the renowned author Gregory Maguire to aid Perrotis College students in strengthening their writing skills.
The GMWC enhances the classroom experience, assisting students with their assignments, theses and research projects through:
— The provision of objective and confidential tutoring to students with assignments and research projects in English, no matter the skill level, at any stage in the process — from brainstorming to final revision;
— One-on-one or group consultations by appointment, as well as on a first-come-first-served basis;
— Special workshops;
— Access to online and written support materials about improving writing;
— Community engagement through student clubs on the craft of writing.
Vision
Improvement in self-expression reverberates out into all other areas of personal growth; it is our responsibility as stewards of lifelong learning to foster those skills developed in the practice of writing, using every tool at our disposal.

Document Review Service

The Writing Center and the Library are happy to introduce our online service called “Document Review” – an optimized way to submit your assignments to be reviewed by the Writing Fellow and/or Librarian at Perrotis College.
This service is a great option if you:
— want another look at your essay/dissertation (grammar, content, vocabulary, referencing, etc.)
— want direct comments/suggestions on your writing or referencing
— do not have time to meet in-person
By submitting your essay using this form, we will be able to offer tailored feedback by collecting useful information about you and the assignment details. All assignments should be uploaded through Google Drive using the form and you will receive notice that your assignment has been reviewed via email.
Useful Notes:
1. Best practice is to not email essays directly to the Writing Fellow or to Ms. Iro, and instead use the link below to receive feedback that meets your needs.
2. If you have questions or concerns, please email the Writing Fellow (writingfellow@afs.edu.gr) or Ms. Iro (the Perrotis College librarian, isotir@afs.edu.gr).
Important Disclaimer: The Service will provide feedback only for essays and/or dissertations that have not yet been submitted for grading by your professors! In other words, we will only accept drafts before final submission, not already submitted papers that await grading or have already been graded.

Before you start writing your assignment, please consider the following guides (the first one is online, the second one is on the Moodle platform), which will guide you step-by-step through the process of understanding your topic, finding your keywords and forming your research questions, all the way into forming your bibliography.
